This site was mentioned by many Jewish, Christian and Muslim travelers, including Bishops Eusebius and Procopius of Gaza. A church dedicated to the Prophet Elisha was built on this site. The site contains an ancient spring known as the “Sultan’s Spring”, which appeared on the map of Madaba as a red dome with two guard and watchtowers and a low-rise wall (coord. 192: 142)
