Neapolis
It is now known as the city of Nablus, which was founded in 73 AD. By Emperor Vespasianus (Vespasianus), after the Romans destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD, the city of Nablus appears on the map with the following details:
a) Part of the wall surrounding the city with its castles and entrances.
b) The main paved road that connects the east of the city to its west, and intersects with the road that cuts through the city from north to south and contains many shops.
c) At the top of the intersection of the two roads we find a dome on columns that may belong to a water spring that feeds the area that is now part of the “Al-Nasr Mosque” site.
d) On the southern side of Nablus, there appears the shape of arches that have not yet been identified. They may be terraces for public events, or the location of a spring with a large square. It may be the “Ain al-Qaryoun Spring” in the old city of Nablus. Roman ruins have been found there.
e) On the southeastern side, a building of a large church appeared, which may be the Cathedral of Nablus, which the Samaritans destroyed in 484 AD, during their revolution, their demolition, and the destruction of churches in the area.
