Gerizim and Ebal
Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim appear twice on the map of Madaba near Nablus, and a second time near Jericho on its northwestern side. Bishop Eusebius established the two places near Jericho, adding the following observation: “The Samaritans show the two places near Nablus, but they are wrong, as Mount Gerizim is far from Mount Ebal and they cannot hear each other from the two mountains.” But the Samaritans themselves establish the location of the two mountains near Nablus On the other hand, the Orthodox Jews pin the two mountains near Jericho and reject what the Samaritans say. As for Bishop Eusebius, he is with the opinion of the Orthodox Jews. Accordingly, in the Madaba mosaic map, the two places were pinned near Nablus and the other near Jericho.
