Akeldama

It is the place of the field that was purchased with thirty pieces of silver that Judas Iscariot took as a price for handing Jesus Christ over to the Jews, according to what was stated in the Acts of the Apostles and in the Gospel of Matthew.

It appears that Bishop Eusebius made a mistake in determining the location of the field of blood, as he placed it north of Mount Zion (Eus.On. 38:20f), but later he modified this in (102: 14-16), and Saint Jerome (Ironimus) supported him. The field of blood is now located in the Monastery of Abu Tur, the town of (Tur), located in Valley of Hinnom (Valley of Fire) south of the city of Jerusalem (Jerusalem).
