Ain Noon is located near the city of Salem in northern Palestine. The word eye in Aramaic means a spring of water, as in Arabic. Therefore, the meaning of “Ain Nun” in Aramaic is abundant (heavy) water. Ain Nun is mentioned in the Gospel of John

The term (Ain Nun) was and still is used in the Levant in general and Palestine in particular. This name is given to many locations where water is abundant. We find this name in Arab heritage books and what is used by the general local population. This is completely consistent with what Bishop Eusebius wrote about many other sites called Ain Nun.
