Chortaso
Khortaso is located north of Damanhour, and it is believed that Saint Habakkuk was buried there. A mosaic was recently found in Palestine in Kiryat Ghaith, in the courtyard of an ancient church in which Khortaso’s name is mentioned (Chortaso).
This mosaic was found in Ramat Ghayth – Palestine, and it represents Chortaso (Chortaso) in Egypt. It shows a two-story building with streets, located on one of the branches of the Nile River, and shows a boat. In 2013, an inscription in Greek was discovered at the site, preserved next to one of the buildings, on which is written, [This mosaic represents the site of Chortaso (Chortaso)]. According to Christian tradition, the Prophet Habakkuk was buried there, and there are those who believe that his grave is in Palestine.
