Diospolis

It was named (Diospolis) during the time of the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus (Septimius Severus) (193 – 211) AD, now known as Lydda (Cord 140 – 151). The city was mentioned in several historical sources, and appeared on the map of Madaba without a wall around the city.
Saint George (George) Saint Grace (Al-Khader) was born there, and was martyred there in 303 AD. There are traces of a church dedicated to him. In the fourth century, Lydda became the seat of the Syrian bishopric.
